Prop Event Journals: Preserve the Plan That Existed Before the News
An event journal should show what was known before the release and what changed afterwards. Keep the original plan even when later information makes another explanation persuasive. Rewriting the first entry removes the evidence needed to evaluate the process.

Freeze criteria and the information cutoff
Give the plan a version, timestamp, trigger, invalidation condition and observation source. Identify which release or headline it refers to. Save a later interpretation as another version rather than editing the original into a more successful story.
For a British diary, retain an unambiguous full date and the original UTC instant. A local display helps reading, while the timestamp locates the information cutoff. A headline received after the decision cannot silently become a pre-decision input.
Review a fictional two-version case
Suppose version 1 at 12:00 states trigger above 101 and invalidation below 99. After a fictional release, version 2 at 12:35 changes the trigger to 102. An observation at 12:20 belongs against version 1 if that was the applicable plan at the time.
If an account entry is later supplied, retain its own execution time and price. The plan does not establish that the entry occurred, and a later target touch does not prove a completed exit. Account quantity and costs still require their own records.
| Record | Time | Retained condition |
|---|---|---|
| Version 1 | 12:00 | Trigger >101; invalidation <99 |
| Observation | 12:20 | Review against then-applicable version |
| Version 2 | 12:35 | Trigger changed to >102 |
| Account execution | Not supplied | Do not infer from either plan |
Use the review to improve the next plan
The related resource preserves this site’s earlier before/after method. Mark whether the original trigger occurred, whether its data were complete and why the later version changed. Keep an unresolved observation unresolved instead of assigning the favourable version after the outcome.
